Dear Crossroads Community

As we step into May, we recognize it as Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to reflect on our mental well-being and support those around us. For the women in our care, this month carries special significance as they navigate their recovery journeys.

Too often, women who struggle with substance use disorder and mental health issues are overlooked, dismissed, or silenced. When women can talk openly about their addiction, mental health, and recovery, it not only helps to break down stigma but also raises awareness about the reality of addiction and mental illness.

At the Crossroads Foundation, we believe all women deserve to be heard and should have access to substance use disorder and mental health resources that address their specific needs.

Tips for Women in Recovery

1. Prioritize Self-Care: Set aside daily time for activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Self-care is essential, whether it’s reading a book, taking a walk, or practicing mindfulness.

2. Build a Support Network: Surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you. Attend support group meetings, connect with sober friends, and lean on your community here at Crossroads.

3. Practice Gratitude: Each day, find something to be grateful for. Gratitude can shift your focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant in your life.

4. Set Realistic Goals: Break down your recovery journey into manageable steps. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem.

5. Stay Connected: Reach out for help when you need it. Our staff and counselors are here to support you every step of the way.
