Dear Friends of Crossroads,

For nearly seven decades, the Crossroads Foundation has quietly carried out one of San Diego’s most compassionate missions: providing a safe, warm, and structured home for women rebuilding their lives from Substance Abuse Disorder. Each year, we open our doors to the community so they can see—not just hear about—the transformative work happening inside our beautiful home in Hillcrest.

Our Holiday Open House on December 14th, is not simply a tour,  It is an invitation to step into a place where thousands of women have found safety, sobriety, and sisterhood since 1957. The walls have witnessed heartbreak and healing, laughter and late-night conversations, setbacks and victories. When people walk through the house, they often say the same thing: “You can feel the hope in here.”

This year, that hope has been especially visible.

Staff Crossroads 2025 December

The Heart of Crossroads: Our Staff, Our Strength

This holiday season, we’re proud to share a moment from our Crossroads Staff Holiday Gathering — a joyful reminder that behind every milestone, every graduation, and every moment of healing in our home stands a dedicated team of women whose work makes recovery possible.

At Crossroads, every role matters. Every voice matters. Every woman matters.

From the counselors who guide residents through their most vulnerable moments, to the overnight staff who ensure safety and calm, to the administrators who keep our programs strong and steady — each member of our team plays an essential part in the recovery journey. Their compassion is the steady heartbeat of the house. Their commitment creates the structure that helps women rebuild their lives. Their kindness models the dignity and respect our residents deserve.

This photo captures more than a holiday celebration. It reflects a community of staff who show up every day with purpose, patience, and unwavering belief in the women they serve. Recovery is not a solitary path — it is woven through connection, guidance, empathy, and teamwork. Our staff embodies all of this and more.

As we close out the year, we extend our deepest gratitude to every member of the Crossroads team. Because of you, the house is not just a place to stay — it is a place to heal.

Crossroads Pasta & Jazz Gala 1

A Year Marked by Milestones

Embracing Sustainability

With gratitude to the McMillen Family Foundation, Crossroads was able to move forward with solar energy this year—an investment that will reduce operating costs and help us stay focused on what matters most: supporting the women we serve.

Community in Action: Our First Picnic by the Bay

In June,  Crossroads hosted our first annual,  “ A Day at the Bay,”, bringing together alumni, families, and supporters for a sunny afternoon of connection on Mission Bay in San Diego. Alumni shared stories of resilience, reminding us that Crossroads is not just a program—it is a lifelong community.

A Gala That Raised Spirits and Support

Our annual Pasta & Jazz Gala was one of our strongest yet, thanks to the generosity of sponsors, guests, and alumni who returned to share their journeys. Highlights of the evening were the presence of Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe, a strong advocate for community-driven solutions and a champion for San Diego families and a special address by Jeanne McAlister, founder of the McAlister Institute, who reflected on the vision of Crossroads co-founder Bernice Morris, an attorney whose dedication helped establish the program more than six decades ago. The gala was a success—from heartfelt speeches to lively music, and the night reflected the courage and community that defined Crossroads.

Sharing Our Story with San Diego

Crossroads once again was highlighted on Spotlight on the Community, offering listeners an inside look at the mission, values, and long-term vision of Crossroads. Our dedication to lifting up women’s voices continues to bring new supporters into our circle.

Join Us in Celebrating Healing, Community, and New Beginnings

We warmly welcome friends old and new to visit the house, meet the women and staff, and see why Crossroads continues to be a cornerstone of recovery in San Diego.
